The World Bank unveiled the next Doing Business-2018 rating. Ukraine took 76th place in it, having improved last year’s result on four positions. CASE Ukraine`s executive director Dmytro Boyarchuk evaluates this news in the comments to ‘Liga. Biznes’ website.
In his opinion, the new rating demonstrates notable growth of Ukraine’s position in the field of taxation. This is due to the reduction of the rate of unified social tax and changes to the administration of certain types of tax at the beginning of the year. Many accountants really respond to them in a positive way.
In general, Doing Business is heavily criticized for criteria formality, the economist says. For example, getting electricity in Ukraine is estimated not even in Kyiv, but in the Kyivan Oblast. Changing the situation in other regions does not affect the overall result.
However, the approach is unique in all countries. That is why the overall rating really characterizes the state of the country. Especially in the context of small and medium business.
