Member of the supervisory board and leading expert of CASE Ukraine Volodymyr Dubrovskiy made a presentation at the round table “Economic rights and liberties as a warranty for development of democratic Ukraine” that was organized by Freedom House Ukraine under the program “Creating mechanisms and opportunities for protecting human rights in Ukraine”. The topic of the presentation is “Monopolization of economy and political organization: lessons for Ukraine”.

New issue of quarterly publication “Ukraine Economic Outlook: Tendencies, Estimates, Forecasts” was prepared. Outlook #1’2004 contains an analysis of developments in industrial, monetary, fiscal, and trade spheres in the fourth quarter of 2003 and a forecast of basic macroeconomic indicators for 2004 and 2005.

CASE Ukraine starts new short term project “Staff Training on the Budget Process and Budget and Fiscal Analysis in Ukraine”. The program aims to bring a group of six staff members of the National Assembly of Armenia to participate in one-week study tour to Ukraine to learn effective and practical approaches to budgeting and fiscal analysis. During the program, the participants will meet with Ukrainian experts to learn about the Ukrainian national budget and other related issues.

CASE Ukraine starts new long term project “Sustaining Low Inflation in Ukraine in the Context of Financial Liberalization Policies”. The goal of the project is to define and describe the necessary conditions that can support further economic growth of Ukraine while not compromising inflation and macroeconomic stability. The project appeared to be the 150th grant approved by Polish-American-Ukrainian Cooperation Initiative (PAUCI). Two partners participate in the project: CASE Warsaw and the Institute of Reform. The results of the project will be transmitted to the experts of NBU.Secondary Privatization in Transition” (funded by University Research Corporation International under a contract with USAID). The project is devoted to comparing trends in post-privatization changes in the ownership structures of privatized enterprises and their relationship to the quality of corporate governance in selected transition countries.

Vladimir Dubrovskiy presented the first draft of the country study on Ukraine done within the Global Research Project of Understanding Reforms at the international workshop held in Delhi 26.01.2004.

Vladimir Dubrovskiy, the Leading Expert and a member of the Supervisory Board of CASE Ukraine, made presentation at the Conference on Anti-corruption that took place October 17 – 18, 2003 at the Large Presentation Facility of the Ukrainian Academy of Science.

September 11 CASE Ukraine organizes press-conference “Business tendency surveys: new opportunities for forecasting business development”. This press-conference is a part of the joint Ukrainian-Swiss project “Implementation of the Business Tendency Surveys in Service Sector of Ukraine”.
